SOCIAL MEDIA MODERATOR

We urgently need Social Media Moderators for our state-specific Facebook groups to help raise awareness and bring missing loved ones home. 


As a moderator, you will:

  • Approve new member requests
  •  Monitor posts and comments for appropriate content
  • Share official missing person flyers and updates
  • Monitor law enforcement and media pages and share new missing person information into our groups
  • Engage within our groups to develop a community that is poised to care, share and be aware.
  • Help promote awareness campaigns that save lives


Time Commitment: Flexible — about 3–10 hours per week

Awareness case manager

We are seeking passionate and reliable Volunteer Awareness Case Managers to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with families of the missing and our volunteer team to amplify awareness efforts and manage online campaigns designed to bring missing loved ones home. This is a chance to be part of a committed team working together for families in their most difficult times.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with families and the MIA volunteer team to develop an awareness plan for each case.
  • Post approved digital flyers and campaign materials across MIA’s social media accounts.
  • Monitor and maintain case awareness campaigns, ensuring consistent visibility and engagement.
  • Communicate updates to families and team members within MIA’s established process.
  • Support all initiatives of the organization, including fundraising efforts that sustain our ability to serve families.
  • Conduct yourself professionally as a representative of MIA.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable using social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
  • Ability to work well as part of a team with integrity and commitment to MIA’s mission.
  • Reliable access to the internet and ability to dedicate 5–10 flexible hours per week.

Case Coordinator

The Case Coordinator plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in our advocacy process. This volunteer supports our Case Managers by ensuring each new submission moves efficiently through our intake process and that resolved cases are properly closed and documented.

This role requires confidentiality, professionalism, compassion, and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete intake processing after new submissions are received
  • Review JotForm submissions for accuracy and completeness 
  • Review law enforcement sites, NAMUS and NCMEC.
  • Initial case research according to internal procedures. 
  • Coordinate with the design team to initiate flyer creation and schedule tasks on our team calendar
  • Maintain organized case records, spreadsheet data and filing within our team channels
  • Assist with closing cases when resolved including updating our calendar entries and moving files in our team channels

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Comfortable with data entry and Google Workspace (Sheets, Drive, Docs) 
  • Excellent written communication skills 
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality 
  • Compassionate and trauma-informed mindset 
  • Reliable and consistent availability (3–5 hours weekly) 
  • Ability to follow established systems and workflows
     

Experience in nonprofit work, case management, victim advocacy, or administrative support is helpful but not required.

Graphic Design Team member

Overview

The Graphic Design Team Member creates missing person flyers and awareness graphics that are clear, professional, and emotionally impactful. This role is critical to amplifying cases across social media, print distribution, digital billboards, and partner networks.

Designers work closely with our intake and case management teams to ensure accuracy and consistency with our brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design missing person flyers using Canva (preferred platform) 
  • Create social media graphics for awareness campaigns 
  • Ensure all case details are accurate before finalizing designs 
  • Follow MIA brand guidelines (red, white, and blue branding) 
  • Submit draft flyers for internal review and family approval 
  • Make revisions as needed 
  • Export final files in required formats (JPG and PDF) 
  • Meet reasonable turnaround timelines for active cases and follow MIA calendar for team  collaboration. 

Qualifications

  • Experience using Canva and google products  (required) 
  • Strong typography and layout skills 
  • Attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and contact numbers 
  • Ability to work with sensitive and emotional content 
  • Comfortable receiving and applying feedback 
  • Reliable communication and follow-through 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
     

Experience in nonprofit design, advocacy work, or trauma-informed environments is a plus but not required.

This is a mission-focused role that blends storytelling, strategy, and sensitivity. Experience in advocacy, nonprofit communications, journalism, or digital marketing is helpful but not required.

This volunteer will collaborate with our leadership and media team to:

  • Create engaging Reels and TikTok videos 
  • Help co-manage and grow our TikTok presence 
  • Amplify active missing person cases 
  • Educate the public about prevention, trafficking awareness, and advocacy 
  • Increase engagement and reach across platforms


Key Responsibilities

  • Create short-form videos (Reels and TikTok) for active missing person cases
  • Develop awareness campaigns and themed content series 
  • Repurpose flyers and case information into engaging video formats 
  • Help monitor TikTok engagement and respond appropriately 
  • Stay current on platform trends while maintaining professionalism 
  • Ensure all content is respectful, accurate, and trauma-informed 
  • Collaborate with leadership on messaging and priorities


Qualifications

  • Experience creating Reels and/or TikTok content 
  • Strong understanding of TikTok trends, sounds, and engagement strategies 
  • Comfortable editing short-form video content 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Ability to handle sensitive subject matter respectfully 
  • Reliable and consistent availability (3–6 hours per week) 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when needed
  • Experience with google products and maintaining a design calendar

Community Outreach & Search Volunteer

This is an as-needed volunteer role based on active cases and family support needs in your area. 

Overview

This role supports active cases and family needs through:

  • Posting and distributing missing person flyers 
  • Driving approved routes to increase awareness 
  • Participating in coordinated community search efforts 
  • Delivering donated meals or essential supplies to families in crisis 
  • Assisting with homeless outreach in parks and public areas when appropriate 
  • Serving as extra eyes and ears in the community
     

All activities are coordinated through Missing In America Network leadership and must follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Distribute approved flyers in designated areas 
  • Document areas covered and report back to leadership 
  • Follow all search boundaries and safety guidelines
  • Deliver meals, gas cards, or donated items when requested 
  • Participate in organized outreach efforts respectfully and professionally 
  • Immediately report credible sightings to law enforcement 
  • Represent Missing In America Network with integrity and compassion

Qualifications

  • Compassion for families in crisis 
  • Calm, respectful demeanor 
  • Reliable transportation 
  • Ability to follow leadership direction 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Flexible availability on an as-needed basis 
  • Must be 18 years or older
     

No prior experience is required. Guidance and expectations will be clearly provided.
