Checklist for Keeping Our Children Safe & child id kits

To help keep identification records current we are now offering Child ID Kits.

In an emergency, every second matters. Having your child’s identifying information prepared ahead of time can help law enforcement respond more quickly and accurately if your child ever goes missing. Current photos, fingerprints, physical descriptions, and a DNA sample may assist in search and recovery efforts.

Missing In America Network and the Arizona Missing Child Task Force encourage families to complete and safely store a Child Identification Kit for each child in their household.

Once completed, place the identification kit inside a plastic folder or waterproof document sleeve and store it in a secure location at home that is easily accessible to parents or guardians in the event of an emergency.

We recommend updating your child’s information, photo, and fingerprints every 6 to 12 months as they grow and change.

Prepared by in partnership with the Arizona Missing Child Task Force.

To complete this identification kit, you will need:

  • A DNA cotton swab with protective packaging or envelope
  • A black fingerprint ink pad
  • A recent high-quality photo of your child
  • A printer to print the PDF identification card
