When someone you love is missing, there are parts of the experience that can be difficult to explain to someone who hasn't lived it.
The uncertainty. The questions. The waiting. The frustration. The need to talk to someone who simply understands.
That's why Missing In America Network is creating Together in Hope, a new family support gathering created specifically for families of missing persons.
This will be a place to connect, share, support one another, ask questions, exchange experiences and resources, and spend time with other families who understand what it means to have someone you love missing.
And for our very first gathering, we want to hear from YOU.
Rather than deciding what a family support group should look like, we want to build Together in Hope WITH families.
We'll talk about what you need from this space, the conversations you want to have, resources that would be helpful, topics you'd like us to explore, and guest speakers you'd like to hear from in future gatherings.
You don't have to tell your story.
You don't have to have the right words.
You don't even have to talk if you aren't ready.
You can simply come and be among people who understand.
There is no pressure to share your story or speak before you're ready. You are always welcome to participate in whatever way feels comfortable, including simply listening.
We ask everyone attending to respect the privacy of the other families in the gathering. What another family chooses to share should remain within the group unless they give permission for it to be shared.
Following our inaugural gathering, Together in Hope will meet on the first Sunday of every month at 5:30 PM.
Participation is free, but registration is required so we can provide families with the private meeting information.
