Reading resident Dwane Mitchell Scott disappeared under circumstances that remain unexplained, and his case is considered an endangered missing person investigation.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On the evening of February 13, 2025, 59-year-old Dwane Scott was visiting a family member in the 900 block of Summit Chase Drive in Reading. At approximately 7:00 p.m., he left the home, telling relatives he was going to a local bar. He never returned home. He was expected to celebrate his birthday with family the following day but never arrived, and no one has heard from him since.
MEDICAL CONCERNS
Dwane's disappearance is especially concerning because he has numerous serious medical conditions, including:
- Dementia
- Diabetes requiring insulin multiple times a day
- A history of strokes
- Seizure disorder
- Stage 4 kidney disease
According to his wife, he requires around-the-clock supervision and daily medications. Authorities believe he may become confused or disoriented, placing him at significant risk.
INVESTIGATION
Police issued a Missing Endangered Person Advisory on February 15, 2025 due to his medical vulnerabilities. One possible lead emerged when someone reported seeing a man believed to be Dwane at Maria's Restaurant/Lounge on Penn Street between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. the night he disappeared. However, the sighting has never been confirmed, and no additional verified sightings have been reported publicly.
His family has conducted extensive searches, distributed flyers, contacted hospitals and shelters, and continued raising awareness, but as of the latest public information, no confirmed evidence has explained what happened to him.
CURRENT STATUS
As of the most recent available information, Dwane Scott remains missing, and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance are unknown.
