Kingsport resident Layla Santanello disappeared on June 27, 2023, at the age of 20. She had been staying at the Americourt Hotel and was reportedly seen acting distressed in the hours before she vanished. Investigators determined her last confirmed sighting was around 6:15 a.m. in a field near the hotel on American Way, wearing a white tank top, black leggings, and no shoes.
Since her disappearance, the investigation has included dozens of search warrants, subpoenas, interviews, and multiple large-scale ground searches involving drones, K-9 teams, and other agencies. Despite these efforts, Layla has never been found. Authorities have stated there is no evidence linking her case to any other missing persons investigations, including the disappearance of Hollynn Snapp.
The case remains open, and investigators continue to seek information from the public. Layla's family has remained active in raising awareness and urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward.
